Name(s):Tigerkit Tigerpaw TigerjawTigerstar
Gender:
Tom
Age:
40 moons
Clan:
WindClan
Rank:
Leader
Appearance:
Tigerstar isn't the most unique cat when it comes to appearance. He is an ordinary, plain-looking orange tabby tom. These darker orange stripes wrap delicately across his body- some are thin, like the ones around his face, while others are thick, like the ones on his shoulders and haunches. They all come from a large stripe that runs along his spine. Thinner stripes come from this main back stripe and wrap around his neck, then continue on to the other side. His tail is ringed, like a raccoon. On his forehead is the average 'M' mark that most tabbies have. His main orange color isn't dark or light- it is more like in between. A slightly lighter orange circles around his eyes. The tip of his tail and his paws are pure white. His whiskers are long and white, his ears large and quite expressive. His fur is medium length and his eyes are a handsome yellow-green color.
He isn't the most muscular cat when it comes to build. His shoulders are slender and lean, legs long and built for running on the moor. Although he isn't built like a RiverClan or ThunderClan cat, he is a tall cat due to his legs. Tigerstar is basically all leg. His head is small, however- he may be often compared to a spider (like a daddy long leg) to due his looks. His nose is a rosy-pink color.
Personality:
Tigerstar is incredibly shy around other cats, unless he knows them well. He's used to only speaking to a few cats a day, but once he was appointed deputy, he was thrown out of that state of mind. He is a little bit more outgoing since becoming the leader of WindClan, but he would prefer to be by himself rather in a large crowd. Because of his shyness, Tigerstar sometimes doesn't stick to his ideas and thoughts as much as another cat would. If a verbal fight rises, Tigerstar is likely to back down unless it is something he really believes in. Although he would rather be nice to everyone verbally, he is a physically fit fighter. If he had to he'd fight, but he wouldn't go around picking one, which is the complete opposite from his brother, Charredpelt. His lack of confidence has given him the well-known name as the push-over or weakling. In his younger years, he was called this often, but now that he is the leader, not so much. Though his personality hasn't really changed since becoming the leader of WindClan, besides becoming a little more outgoing and gaining some self-confidence. Being around other cats, especially at Gatherings, makes Tigerstar especially nervous. Due to his Pica (obsessive chewing and eating things that aren't necessarily food disorder), he literally wants to chew on or eat everything. Although he's trained himself not to eat things such as grass, he ends up, when he's really nervous, biting his tongue or gums until he bleeds. He cannot cure himself of this, but he thinks that hurting his mouth is much better than embarrassing himself by chewing or eating a stick.
The other side to Tigerstar is one full of compassion and empathy. Tigerstar loves every cat, whether in his own Clan or not, but he is afraid to show them that he really cares. He takes sympathy for every cat in need or pain, but he tries to not let this quality sway him from being a good WindClan leader. The two leaders prior to him stressed in making their Clan remain neutral in other Clan affairs, so that is a bit difficult for him due to his personality. Once you get to know him, Tigerstar can be a humorous, kind, and outgoing cat. Though most cats know him as the nervous and shy mouse-brain, which is why he doesn't have much supporters and is rather unpopular. He wants cats to like him, but is afraid of showing the more positive side to others, so only shows it to his friends. Sometimes, if in a bad mood, he can be short, rude, and cantankerous. Rarely this side shows in public, and if it does, he is most likely stressed.
History:
Tigerkit was born in WindClan to Rowanfur and Heatherpool. He had one brother named Charredkit. Tigerkit was named after his fiery orange pelt, which much resembled the cats in the tales told to kits about TigerClan. Right from birth, his parents could tell something was wrong with him. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary with Charredkit, but they would always find Tigerkit getting into something that he wasn't supposed to. He'd eat grass, leaves, or twigs before a mouse or milk. He'd chew his tongue until it bled if he didn't get one of those three things to eat. The WindClan medicine cat, named Brownwhisker, thought that he would eventually grow out of this phase, but as he neared his apprenticeship it still hadn't. Later he concluded that Tigerkit had something wrong with him that he couldn't cure.
The leader, Froststar, debated whether or not to let Tigerkit become an apprentice. Besides his obsession with chewing and eating things that weren't necessarily food, he was a perfectly healthy kit. It wasn't like he couldn't hunt or fight- it was obvious, if allowed, that he would be a great warrior. When he reached his sixth moon, Tigerkit and Charredkit were both named apprentices. Tigerpaw, much to his surprise, got Froststar as his mentor. Froststar was patient with Tigerpaw and never got angry with him due to his disorder. With time, Tigerpaw learned to curb his chewing and would only eat grass or bite his tongue when he was really nervous. Froststar taught him to hunt and fight. He was superb at hunting for his Clan due to his long legs and nimble paws. Tigerpaw was an alright hunter, though not as good as his brother, who already had the powerful shoulders of a ThunderClan cat.
Throughout his apprenticehood, Tigerpaw was made fun of when his chewing got out of hand. If he so much as ate a blade of grass- the other apprentices especially would jibe him. They'd call him a dog, a mouse-brain, mad, or a kittypet (even though this last one made no sense with the situation, it hurt him all the same). If Froststar was around, he ordered it to be stopped at once. Though sometimes, Tigerpaw didn't want his friend's help because this only escalated the situation. This made the other cats call him weak and soft-hearted for not being able to stand up for himself. "He has to stand behind his mentor for protection! What a little kit!" was something they would whisper, though loud enough for young Tigerpaw to hear. This also happened during a Gathering and he refused to go to another again.
As their apprenticeship drew to an end, Tigerpaw was told that Charredpaw was going to be named a warrior. Tigerpaw was excited, but then realized that he wasn't going to be named with his brother. Tigerpaw was trained slower than his brother, and that night, Charredpaw was named Charredpelt. Tigerpaw was happy for his brother, but disappointed that he hadn't been in the ceremony with him, like it should have been. Froststar was very supportive of him, however, and told him that it would be his turn to get his new name soon. He was turning into a fine warrior, but curbing his chewing had eaten away at training time, so he had to be held back a little bit from Charredpelt.
A moon later, Froststar told him that it was time to earn his warrior name. He had been a dedicated apprentice despite his obsessive chewing and deserved it. Over time, the two of them had become best friends. Tigerpaw wasn't seen without Froststar. At his warrior ceremony, Froststar named him Tigerjaw for his dedication and skillfulness. Tigerjaw was incredibly happy and loved his name, even though it referenced his disorder. Soon after he was named a warrior, his brother was given an apprentice. She had been in a litter of one, otherwise, Froststar assured him, he would have gotten his own apprentice, too. While Charredpelt was off training her, Tigerjaw was left to hunt for the Clan. This was something that he was actually good at and was confident he wouldn't fail, like he believed he had with everything else. He loved hunting rabbits and stretching his long, slender legs when running. Froststar saw how good of a warrior he was and told him that if something happened to their current deputy, Stoneshine, that he would take his place. Tigerjaw thought his friend was merely joking, and laughed it off.
Two seasons later, there was a skirmish with a badger and Stoneshine was slain. That night, much to his surprise, Tigerjaw was appointed the deputy to take Stoneshine's place. He was congratulated by many of the cats, but most looked at Froststar like he'd grown another head. Tigerjaw was afraid of his duty, and begged Froststar later to rethink his decision. He didn't actually think that Froststar was being truthful when he told him that he would be the deputy after Stoneshine! But Froststar was firm and told him that he was to be the next WindClan leader. He hadn't even had an apprentice yet, but he was promised one soon. Tigerjaw thought that any other warrior would have been a better deputy, especially Charredpelt, who was good at both hunting and fighting and incredibly loyal to the Clan, but he left it at that. He was happy that his friend saw something good in him, but he thought that the other cats may not see his way, too.
Once he had accepted being the deputy, he told his brother that once he was leader that he could be his deputy. It was rumored that Froststar was frailer than usual, being on his last life. Soon later, Froststar told Tigerjaw that he wanted to show him something. Froststar led him out of WindClan territory to a nearby Twolegplace. He told Tigerjaw that he wanted to show him two cats, and went up to a Twoleg nest. Out came a white she-cat and her kit, who looked even too young to be an apprentice. He said that they were his family, his mate and his kit, Frost. The two of them traveled to meet the two she-cats many times, saying that they were out hunting or visiting the Moonpool in the nights they were gone.
Moons later, Tigerjaw woke in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep. That was when he noticed that his brother wasn't in his nest, and thought it was rather odd. Charredpelt had been acting standoff-ish for awhile, so Tigerjaw got up and followed his scent to Froststar's den. He also smelled blood. When he raced into the den, Charredpelt's long claws were raking across his throat. Tigerjaw got his brother off of the leader, but it was too late. Froststar lost his last life then. Tigerjaw banished his brother, but before he left, Tigerjaw asked his brother why he attacked the leader. He told him that he wanted to become the deputy so bad that he wanted to speed up the process. He was going to kill Froststar and blame it on another cat, any other cat. Tigerjaw would be the leader, and Charredpelt would have been his loyal deputy. Charredpelt left, leaving Tigerjaw emotionally wounded. Froststar was his best friend. He couldn't bring himself to tell the small family in the Twolegplace of his death, because it hurt him too much to think of Froststar. Instead, he filled his mind with Clanlife. Tigerjaw said goodbye to his friend and buried him by the tree right outside of camp without telling anyone. Everyone asked what happened in the morning, why Froststar and Charredpelt had disappeared. Tigerjaw told them that he didn't know, and also told them he had said farewell to Froststar and knew he was in a better place.
Tigerjaw thought of all those time he'd skipped going to the Gathering when he was the deputy because he was nervous around other cats and would surely show his disorder in public. Before he'd claim that he had hurt his foot and couldn't walk, but it would be okay the next day. Now he had to go to every Gathering, otherwise WindClan would look like an easy target. Tigerjaw appointed Snowinglight, a former kittypet, but a good warrior, as deputy soon after he became leader.
A day later, also the day before he went to the Moonpool to receive his nine lives, Tigerjaw ran into Frost at the WindClan border near the Twolegplace. He was surprised to see her, even more that she recognized him. He invited her into the Clan, and she accepted. Tigerjaw decided that she could be his apprentice, since he hadn't had one yet. Tigerjaw left Snowinglight in charge of camp and set off to the Moonpool to receive his nine lives with Frostpaw by his side. Though during the ceremony, Charredpelt attacked him, and Tigerjaw only received six of his nine lives. He kept this a secret from everyone except for his apprentice, Frostpaw. StarClan didn't name him Tigerstar due to the ceremony being cut short, but he told the Clan all went well. Not too long after that, however, Frostpaw was attacked and killed by a rogue. This devastated Tigerstar, as he thought of her like a daughter and was the only living thing that reminded him of his old best friend.
