As the sun crept over the distance mountains and let its golden rays warm the earth, Snowfire rose out of her nest and shook her pelt. Although this leafbare felt more like leaf-fall, the medicine cat was still chilled by the cold. Surprisingly, she still had lots of stock left in her den as the not so harsh leafbare didn't make as many cats sick from greencough. It was one of those ultra rare days where she had very little to do. There are no current queens that require her, no cats are injured, and herbs were good. What to do today... thought the she-cat. She stepped out of her den, and dawn patrol was just leaving as the camp slowly stirred. Snowfire stretched, and glanced at the fresh-kill pile. There wasn't much, and even though she was no longer an "official" hunter for her clan, she made her way to the camps entrance to go and hunt for her clan.
She nodded and smiled to the cat that was standing by the entrance as guard, basically saying not to wait up for her if it becomes late. They have had this conversation numerous times; nodding just saves the time and breath to say it all again. There wasn't much snow on the ground, and with the river still frozen, Snowfire headed the marshes to search for small rodents. As her paws made barely a noise as she crossed the terrain, she neared her destination: the marshes. Looking around her, the morning frost looked beautiful in the shimmer of the golden rays from the sun. She took a second to be in awe of the scenery, before padded forward and scenting the air. She picked up a scent right away; a mouse. Crouching, she started stalking, and soon spotted it. She bunched her shoulders when she was a few tail-lengths away before pouncing and killing the rodent. Although it wasn't the plumpest mouse, Snowfire was still proud. "I still got it!" she said to herself.
She had caught a second mouse in her hunting trip before another scent crossed her nose; WindClan. Because she was hunting so close to the border, regardless that she was on her side, they would probably assume the worst; as most clans did. Running would make it worse, so she just waited and looked busy examining reeds. She saw the cat approach, but it wasn't a patrol- it was their leader Tigerstar. "My my, I haven't seen you since we were apprentices." she said out loud. Why he was there by himself, she didn't care. "Congratulations on your leadership," she bowed her head in respect. "how have you been?"
