Name(s): Lilykit Lilypaw Lilystep
Sex: She-cat
Age: 25 moons
Clan: ShadowClan
Rank: Warrior
Appearance:
This kitteh.
Lilystep is of fairly average stature; perhaps she is a bit smaller than usual, but not so much that she could immediately be classified as a "small" cat. She is slender, but not too much so. Her face is broad, like a regular wild warrior cat's, but not so much so that it is particularly unusual. Her fur is an average thickness, a sort of medium length. Her tail does seem thicker than the rest of her pelt, though that could just be because of the splash of color. In a way, maybe Lilystep's ears are a bit more pointed than many other cats', especially compared to her face, but it is hardly a major feature of her appearance.
As far as coloring goes, Lilystep is about average for many calicoes. Her nose is bright pink, quite like the center of a lily in many ways, and her eyes are a plain yellow-green -- sometimes more yellow, sometimes more green, just like many other cats. Her pelt is almost all white except for her face, tail, and a couple of spots on her shoulders. Her fluffy tail is alternating black and ginger tabby, so much so that she was nearly named Snakekit for it -- but her mother saw her nose and decided against it, choosing the sweeter name Lilykit instead. Her rump has a swathe of ginger tabby coloring which fades into her tail. On her head are two splotches of color above her eyes and about her ears. Over her left eye is a splatter of ginger tabby which, toward the crown of her head, is overcome by a black blob that appears almost to drool down the side of her cheek. The right side is much the same, but with a larger black splotch which also wraps around her ear and a lack of ginger-tabby excess, for it starts much higher up on her face and covers much less space. On the back-center of her left ear is a ginger tabby patch. On her shoulders each is a small round ginger tabby spot. There are some speckles of color on her legs as well.
Another reason that Lilystep has her warrior name, besides the reason to be mentioned in her history, is her bright pink paw pads. They are the same color as her nose, far cheerier than she could ever deserve. And, as such, her claws are a clear pinkish sort of color. Except when they have blood on them. Then they're red. Truly, her pelt is quite difficult to keep clean; she curses her white fur sometimes, when she has the energy for it.
Hunter or fighter? Both. Neither. Eh. That's sort of how she is, a mix of both, an average blend of an average warrior cat with average training at an average time and pace. She's only spectacular in her physical mediocrity, to tell the truth. Though sometimes she likes climbing trees. Because of her tail, as well, sometimes she can look tailless because of the stark contrast of her pelt; so, while she as a whole is not camouflaged, at least her tail, and sometimes her ears, is.
Personality:
Some cats might say Lilystep is likable. They'd be very silly for saying so. Her tongue is barbed as a porcupine's back, her humor is as dry as a blade of WindClan grass during sunhigh in a hot greenleaf, and her heart is as cold as the magical frozen spire of a runaway newly coronated queen. Well, the last one might be somewhat debatable, but what is not debatable is that Lilystep is traditionally ShadowClan in that she is not easy to become close to or be friends with. Nor could she be said to be particularly, overly loyal once her friendship is gained -- after all, she has her precious skin to look after. Neither is she particularly interested in glory -- why would that matter? She'd just be able to talk to the same cats once she was dead in StarClan. Same cats. Always. Never escape them. Ever. Ever.
Lilystep follows the warrior code. There's no reason not to; she's not particularly adventurous. Mostly, she'll eye other cats and judge them silently. Low self-esteem? Good. It should be that way because guess what your tail's definitely crooked. And yes, everyone sees your broken tooth, and everyone knows that you got it trying to steal a squirrel's nut stash. Don't even try. She also a bit on the lazy side and really has no position to be judging all of the cats around her, but, then again, those who judge -- do they truly have a proper position to do so? At least Lilystep has no illusions about what she is, what her status in the world is. She knows she's just a small(ish) ShadowClan she-cat with a dry sense of humor and a quicker tongue than claw.
Ah, yes. Lilystep is not particularly physically aggressive, but that does not stop her from unleashing her sharp tongue and barbed words. In some ways, she can be clever, and in others she can be a complete dolt and really never holds herself back when she thinks of something she finds clever to say. And, yes, she does often find something clever to say. She doesn't speak very loudly when she does speak, however: rather, she has a sort of loud whisper, and she tends to speak in a monotone. After all, how can we be sure that the others truly know it's sarcasm unless she makes it blatantly clear?
She's less of a blind follower than a lazy one. Truly, laziness is one of her greatest flaws (well, she's undeniably a flawed creature anyway, but still, laziness affects much of her personality). Meaning, she doesn't want to put the effort in or make the risk of whatever most things require of her, so she'll let others do them for her, or she'll just mindlessly go about her menial tasks. She takes her enjoyment from clever quips and being in charge, emotionally and socially that is, not actually in charge regarding authority.
Emotionally, Lilystep doesn't care much about others. She does what she does and others will feel the way they feel. She doesn't need friends or love or whatever it is most cats think they need for fulfillment; she feels plenty fulfilled already, thank you very much. Now, can she be a bit of a flirt? Ehhh... sometimes flirting requires compliments, and she tends not to be that flirty in that way, but she can sometimes be touchy-feely. Sometimes she'll give a compliment. Not usually. Cats who need constant compliments are not worth Lilystep's time, in her opinion. Actually, most cats aren't worth her time. Her time's worth a lot, in her opinion, since she could be spending it doing... things. Stuff. You know. The sort of stuff that includes watching butterflies and grooming and going for a walk and grooming and maybe catching a toad and grooming again because thick white fur is the worst and then napping. Those sorts of things. Oh, and of course commenting on the cats around her, usually in her head or under her breath.
In addition, Lilystep can be very sassy. She has a bite and she is not afraid to use it or to burn another cat (with words, naturally) or to seek venomous revenge. She can be quite vindictive, if someone upsets her, and holds a grudge to the end of time. It's not so much that first impressions count with Lilystep; actually, she probably won't remember you unless she's met you at least thrice. It's more that if you continually irritate her and get in her way, she will disapprove of you so greatly that it turns into a serious, churning dislike, and she just has to lash out somehow in order to channel the deep seated fire in her belly so that it goes away. No, she doesn't really have that much of a temper. Her revenge tends to come out in very carefully chosen icy-hot words. Actually, Lilystep doesn't really lose her cool; she tends to have her head about her in most cases.
She has no prejudices, really, or preconceived notions of other cats. Unless she's been gossiping. Lilystep is a true gossip monger, if ever there ever were one worth speaking of.
Maybe Lilystep has a lot of untapped potential in there or maybe she's just good at noticing the empty spaces of her mind and exploring them, but she tends to spend most of her time in her own mind. That's not so bad. She likes herself, so her mind's a pretty fun place. She amuses herself. After all, with that humor and this face and all this confidence and self-assurance and general glorious-ness, who wouldn't love spending forever and always together?
History: Born to ShadowClan warriors Pinewhisker and Sandystep during the reign of Morningstar (like so many others), Lilykit was one of two kits. The other was her brother, Lizardkit. They weren't particularly close. When she was born, her uncle, Bogthorn, and truly her favorite cat, commented on her tail, saying he thought it looked a bit like a baby snake coming out from the snow. Pinewhisker and Sandystep dismissed this idea, for they did not want their soft, fluffy white daughter to be named Snakekit. And anyways, Sandystep's grandmother was killed by a snake once, so there was some sensitivity there (Sandystep was very in-touch with his emotions, probably more so than his mate).
To say that Lilykit had a particularly interesting kithood would be lying, so... moving on to her time as an apprentice. For her mentor, she was given Bogthorn, who had recently finished mentoring the newly-named Darkfang. Pinewhisker had been his mentor before, but she grew heavy with kits -- namely, Lilykit and Lizardkit -- and so her brother took over as Darkpaw's mentor. Lilypaw was, naturally, overjoyed to have her uncle as her mentor because, as mentioned before, he was her favorite. Why? Well, they had similar natural dispositions. He was more venomous and cruel, however; she was more sneaky and snicker-y. Indeed, they both had the venom and cruelty innate in them that seemed to skip Pinewhisker completely. Lilypaw was never close enough to her siblings to figure out if they felt the same way. Indeed, spending so much time with Bogthorn only made her more like him, more demanding and snarky.
When Lilypaw was eleven moons old, her father died, killed trying to fight the badger that wandered onto their territory. He had never been much of a strong warrior, but he was kind and good-hearted and noble and courageous, so there always was that. And, in addition, he was one of the friendliest cats in all the Clans, and he loved his mate so very dearly. Thus, when Lilypaw gained her warrior name, along with her siblings, after they passed their test, she became Lilystep, named after her father. Why her and not her brother? Well, you see, Lizardblaze's name fits him so very perfectly. Lilystep, however, there was not really much anyone could say about her. She was generally quiet, except when she was beingterribleopinionated about nothing in particular. Mainly, cats knew that she was friends with her uncle, the fierce and harsh Bogthorn. So, Lilystep got to participate in the failed attack on ThunderClan simply because she was told to and didn't feel like arguing. There really wasn't any reason for it that Lilystep saw, but oh, well. She barely placed a paw on ThunderClan's territory when she was being told they were turning back. A memorable first attack as a warrior.
Nothing since then has really happened except Lilystep gained an apprentice, a fluffy calico she-cat named Skypaw(everyone in ShadowClan seems to be either Darkfang or a fluffy calico, anyway). Lilystep was a bit surprised, but went along with it because why not. Lilystep was a naturally quiet cat -- her voice just happened to be spoken at a low volume, and she liked to choose her words rather than babble -- and could almost seem friendly at first. Skypaw's older brother, then, Stormclaw, developed a crush on Lilystep. She saw it right away, of course, and was having none of it, but wow that tom could not pick up a hint. He confessed his feelings to her, and she flatly slammed him down and rejected him. It might be a bit awkward for him and for Skypaw now, but Lilystep could not care less. Actually, watching them squirm was a little bit amusing sometimes.
That's where Lilystep is now. Are you interested? She's not particularly. Oh, well. Maybe tomorrow will be more fun.
