Name(s):DeerkitDeerpawDeerleap
Gender:
She-cat
Age:
9 moons (updated 4.22.14)
Clan:
RiverClan
Rank:
Apprentice
Appearance:
Deerpaw and a mostly gray she-cat. She has faded stripes on her face and her tail that are a slightly darker gray color, making her look almost raccoon-like. Her legs and chest are a light tawny color. Her face also has a very small amount of tan on it, and her muzzle is mostly white. Deerpaw's tail is like a plume, so it starts off with short fur, but gradually gets long and feathery as it progresses toward her tail tip. Her fur is medium-length and soft, even though she doesn't spend very much time grooming it. Her whiskers are short and white, almost invisible on her kit-like face. Deerpaw's eyes are an icy, chilling blue.
She is the opposite of the stereotypical RiverClan cat. Her legs are thick and powerful, perfect for swimming. But the rest of her body is rather WindClan-like. Her shoulders, chest, and haunches are slender. She isn't a very wide cat, and is incredibly small and skinny. Deerpaw is average height, but right now, as a young apprentice, she is much smaller than her siblings and the rest of the apprentices.
Personality:
Unlike a lot of apprentices, Deerpaw is very respectful toward her elders. Though she may not listen to other apprentices or those younger than her very well, she'll dedicate herself to whatever a cat older than her tells her to do. Deerpaw is also incredibly nice to other cats, is usually always selfless, willing to do anything for anyone. She is a rather outgoing cat, but can get nervous if she's around a lot of other cats. Due to being so young, Deerpaw is playful and will often drop everything to batter at a butterfly or to catch a falling leaf. She loves doing chores that normally no other apprentice would enjoy. If she was ordered by Coyotestar, her mentor, to clean up after the elders, she'd love it. Deerpaw doesn't really enjoy fighting- that is probably her least favorite thing to do, quite the opposite of Elkshadow, her biological father.
History:
Deerkit was born to Brambleheart, her father, and Honeybird, her mother. She had two siblings; her brother was named Graykit and her sister was Briarkit. Little does she know, this isn't her blood family. Her mother is actually Coyotestar, the RiverClan leader, and her father Elkshadow, the arrogant ThunderClan deputy. Briarkit isn't technically related to her- Graykit is her only true sibling. Coyotestar- then Coyotesong- had to give her two kits up to stay the RiverClan deputy. Her love for her Clan and ambition to become leader was greater, and she gave them both to her friend Honeybird, who had just had kits. So the only ones who know of her secret at this time would be Coyotestar herself and the medicine cat, since she helped Honeybird give birth and would know that she really only had one.
If Deerkit was the kind, respectful one then her siblings were the naughty, mischievous ones. They constantly got in trouble while Deerkit was off listening to stories told by the RiverClan elders. Deerkit loved hearing these tales, even if she knew most of them were fake. She especially loved the ones Stonenose, an old gray she-cat told. They were about the leadership before Featherstar, who was the current leader. Those were the dark times, she said, when Nightstar, the most bloodthirsty RiverClan leader ever, ruled. These stories both fascinated and frightened her. Graykit and Briarkit thought that listening to kit-tales all day long was a boring lifestyle, however, and continued stirring up trouble. Her kithood was filled with this- listening to tales while her siblings were off being annoying fish-brains.
Eventually she was given Coyotesong, the RiverClan deputy, as her mentor. She was surprised at the decision, but she didn't complain. Shortly after, the leader of RiverClan died, leaving Coyotesong as the leader. Featherstar's death didn't really affect the young apprentice, only because she barely knew the gray-and-white she-cat. Deerpaw was chosen to go with her to the Moonpool with Coyotesong to receive her nine lives with a warrior named Moonshine. She has trained with Coyotestar for about three moons so far and is about one third of the way done with her training.
