It was a peaceful morning, with the river's slow-churning waters singing out its melodic melodies and the occasional rustle of little creatures acting as background noise. Squallcry sat, with a twitching tail tip, watching the swirling liquid intently. Two small silver fish lay close beside him; hinting at his recent fishing endeavour, and he was soon to hook another one. He focused, watching the surface for any sign of movement. As soon as he caught it: splash! He dunked a paw beneath the water, batting yet another fish out onto the river's bank. Carefully, he dropped it upon the pile, looking rather pleased with himself.
He'd done rather well, even if he said so himself! Not that he shouldn't keep an eye out for even more potential fresh-kill to take back to camp with him. These fish were only small, after all. "If only there were bigger fish around here," Squallcry murmured to himself. "But, I would've noticed them by now, if there were." He sat down and curled his tail about his paws, his yellow gaze back on the river. It beckoned for him to leap in and swim about. Although, if he did that, it would scare all of the fish away... Decisions, decisions. Sometimes it was so hard to keep his mind focused on the task at paw, especially if it was such a nice day as to coax him into wanting to just leave the earthy feel of the ground and take to that of the cool water instead.
Turning his head away from the sight of the river, he glanced about, his ears tilting, as he listened to the sounds all around.
Yes, it was very peaceful today; the start of a beautiful sunrise.
