Name(s):Rabbitkit RabbitpawRabbitfoot
Gender: Tom
Age: 55 moons
Clan: ShadowClan
Rank: Medicine Cat
Appearance:
"Moritz" in this set
From first glance, Rabbitfoot isn't very impressive. In short, Rabbitfoot is a brown-gray tabby tom with amber eyes. He has thin black stripes that come from a thicker black stripe that runs down his spine. His tail is thin and ringed in black, like a raccoon. On is forehead is the average 'M' marking that most tabbies have. His cheeks are lined with black, with stripes that lead up to his large, expressive amber eyes. Beneath his rosy pink nose is a thin white strip that goes down to his chin. His chest and paws are white as well. He has large, expressive ears and long, droopy white whiskers. Most of his face is caramel brown, but the closer it gets to his ears and forehead, the grayer the color gets. The rest of his pelt is this brown-gray color beneath the tabby stripes. His fur is short length and is rather soft, despite the fact he has next to no time to groom himself.
Rabbitfoot's tail is about half the length it should be, which stops suddenly with a square-shaped tip. This is because when he was an apprentice his tail was in the jaws of a fox, which ripped half of it off. His height and build are both average for a ShadowClan cat, though is a little on the lanky side if compared to a more muscular ShadowClan warrior. Despite being a little slender, Rabbitfoot has broad, powerful shoulders and a wide, deep chest.
Personality:
jokester - friendly - calm - devoted - kind - honest - loyal - wise
Due to his age, Rabbitfoot is fairly wise. Although he is never always right, cats sometimes come to him for advice, and not just because he's the medicine cat. Being only a little younger than the average elder, Rabbitfoot's friends are, for the most part, younger. Cats know him not for only for being wise, but for his joking nature. Whenever he can, he loves being a jokester to lighten the mood- or maybe even pull a prank on another cat. He is friendly to everyone, but his loyalty lies to ShadowClan and ShadowClan alone. No longer is he as selfless and generous as he was when he was younger because he knows that his Clan is the most important Clan. He is still kind to cats of other Clans and will still help them, but he is strictly dedicated to his Clan now because he knows that someday he'd have to face his friends in a different Clan in battle (if he was ever needed, since he's the medicine cat and usually doesn't partake in physical fights). Along with being so loyal to ShadowClan, Rabbitfoot also listens to his leader especially well and usually never goes behind their back. If there are two things he believes in, they are the will of StarClan and the word of his leader. Whatever his leader tells him to do, he will listen without hesitation.
Rabbitfoot is also a rather calm cat. If a disastrous event threatens ShadowClan, Rabbitfoot will likely be the calmest cat. He knows that he can't save every cat when he's trying to heal them- he'll try to, of course, but if they pass into the paws of StarClan, he knows he tried his best and will always remain calm. It is for everyone's best interest if he was easy-going and laid-back anyway, because who would want to see a medicine cat freaking out? Rabbitfoot has a blind faith in StarClan, too. He believes everything happens for a reason, and if he can't save a cat, then they were meant to be with StarClan. If a battle breaks out, it was no one's fault because it was the will of StarClan. He believes in destiny and prophecies given to them by their ancestors.
Two of his personality traits are conflicting: being kind but honest. Usually the kindness side will win, but sometimes honesty will slip out and he will sound cruel and cold-hearted. He doesn't mean to say bad things about another cat, so he is usually apologetic if he says something mean.
History:
Rabbitkit was born to Dapplefoot, his mother, and Badgerstrike, his father. Badgerstrike was an older, well-respected warrior who fell in love with the young, beautiful Dapplefoot. From the start, he had to share the attention of his parents with three other siblings: his brothers Flurryfkit and Cedarkit and his sister Snowkit. Between four kits, Badgerstrike and Dapplefoot didn't really have time to spend with one kit at a time. Instead, all four kits were always together. Whether or not that was good was up to Flurrykit, Cedarkit, Snowkit, and Rabbitkit. Rabbitkit was particularly close to his mother and his sister. He loved his brothers, but they seemed to already have a 'pact' together. Sometimes they wouldn't include Rabbitkit and Snowkit in their games, just because they were a little smaller than their brothers.
Snowkit, from the beginning, was smallest and weakest. Though she refused to let this get in her way, so she was constantly picking fights with Flurrykit and Cedarkit to show that she was just as strong as them. Rabbitkit would stand up next to his sister whenever she needed him, but her stubborn personality refused to let him help her most of the time. Dapplefoot and Badgerstrike would tell the four kits stories about warriorhood. This was the only time when they weren't fighting and were completely at peace. All four kits couldn't wait until they were warriors- Berrykit was especially excited, anxious to receive his warrior name. He would say his name would be Berrystrike, because he wanted to be exactly like their father.
Though these stories, for Cedarkit and Flurrykit, soon ended. As the kits drew ever closer to becoming apprentices, they were always seen in the middle of camp practicing their battle skills with their father. Dapplefoot would stay in the nursery and tell Snowkit and Rabbitkit tales of the old days with TigerClan and LionClan, the Great Journey, and about Firestar, one of the best leaders to walk the forest floor. Snowkit asked their mother why she referred Firestar, the former ThunderClan leader, as 'great' and 'one of the best leaders', and she said because her father was a ThunderClan warrior, so they had ThunderClan blood in their veins. Dapplefoot said they should respect any cat no matter what, even if they weren't born in ShadowClan. Rabbitkit and Snowkit took this to heart and refused to look at any cat differently due to their heritage.
When they reached their sixth moon, all four kits were given their apprentice names: Rabbitpaw, Flurrypaw, Cedarpaw, and Snowpaw. Rabbitpaw received the mentor named Breezerunner, a young warrior. Breezerunner was respectful of everyone, kind, courageous, and incredibly loyal and devoted to his Clan. Along with his mother, Breezerunner is from where he picked up a lot of his opinions and personality traits. Snowpaw's mentor was named Thrushwing, who was Breezerunner's sibling. Because of this, they spent nearly every day together training. Though now both Snowpaw and Rabbitpaw were isolated from the rest of their family due to their training, so whenever he could, Rabbitpaw spent time with his parents. A couple moons into their training, Snowpaw and Cedarpaw caught greencough along with many elders and warriors in early leaf-bare. Snowpaw had the worse case, and soon StarClan took her. Cedarpaw recovered, but from then on, he was more sympathetic towards other cats. No longer was he mean to Rabbitpaw, but he still talked and hung out with Berrypaw. Berrypaw, being his usual self, seemed unaffected by Snowpaw's death, while the rest of their family was devastated. Rabbitpaw was most affected by his sister's death, and wished that he could have done something to save her.
Even though Snowpaw was no longer with them, Rabbitpaw knew he had to carry on with his apprentice duties. He found it hard to get back to his job, but after about a half a moon, he was fully functioning again. He knew that ShadowClan needed him and his siblings, since they were the only apprentices in the Clan at the time. Though soon before the three brothers were to become warriors, Rabbitpaw was on patrol with Dapplefoot, Thrushwing, and Breezerunner when a fox suddenly attacked. It had popped out of the bushes right in front of the apprentice, and Breezerunner ordered him to run back to camp and bring reinforcements. But as Rabbitpaw turned to run, the fox grabbed him by the tail and shook him around in the air, then threw him onto the forest floor with half a tail still clamped in it's jaws. Injured, shocked, and terrified, Rabbitpaw was unable to run. Just as the fox was about to leap on him, Dapplefoot jumped in front of him, hissing and spitting. His mother took the blow from the fox for him: a sharp bite to the neck. By this time, Breezerunner, known for his speed, had arrived with more warriors and the medicine cat, Frogjump. The sight of so many warriors must have frightened the fox, because it turned and ran. A couple warriors chased after it to make sure it would leave ShadowClan territory. After it left, Rabbitpaw stood up and went over to his mother, who was bleeding heavily from her neck. Frogjump was already at work, ordering Rabbitpaw to find cobwebs. Despite his bleeding tail, Rabbitpaw cared more for the well-being of his mother, who was barely breathing. Returning with cobwebs, Frogjump told Rabbitpaw to press them down on Dapplefoot's throat while he chewed some strange leaves up to put on her wound. Frogjump spat the chewed up herbs on Dapplefoot's wound, then told Rabbitpaw to find some horsetail, which could be found beneath some pine trees. After a couple moments, he found horsetail and bit off a couple leaves and brought them back to Frogjump. That was when he told Rabbitpaw to chew them up and apply them to Dapplefoot's throat. Without arguing, Rabbitpaw did as he was told, hoping that he could save his mother. Fear grew in his chest as he realized that she would probably die- the loss of blood was too great, and despite all his and Frogjump's efforts, Dapplefoot passed away. When Rabbitpaw returned to camp, Frogjump looked at his tail and said there wasn't much he could do for him. He put a poultice and cobwebs on his wound and poppy seeds so he could sleep through the night without feeling the pain. Rabbitpaw spent about a quarter moon healing in the medicine cat den before returning to his apprentice duties. The death of his mother was tragic, and not just for her family. The whole Clan grieved for Dapplefoot's loss. She had been a good warrior and mother and died to protect one of her kits. She would be remembered in ShadowClan for a long time.
For the second time in his life, he wished he could have saved his loved one. Out of the three remaining kits of Dapplefoot and Badgerstrike, Flurrypaw seemed least effected by his mother's death and well as his sister's death. Cold and calculating, Flurrypaw wasn't the type to show emotion, even if a loved one had been killed. After his mother's death, Rabbitpaw couldn't stop thinking about how much he wished he could have saved both Snowpaw and Dapplefoot. He confronted Frogjump and asked him if he could be his apprentice, saying how he wanted to save the lives of other cats, even if he couldn't have his mother and sister. Frogjump, without an apprentice and starting to grow old, gladly accepted Rabbitpaw as his apprentice. Morningstar, the Clan leader, held a ceremony for him that night, and welcomed him as the medicine cat apprentice.
Rabbitpaw loved being the medicine cat apprentice from the start and was a quick learner. Although Breezerunner was sad that Rabbitpaw decided to stop training as a warrior, the two became close friends. Whenever he wasn't learning the medicines, taking care of his Clan, or collecting herbs, he was out hunting with his former mentor. Frogjump was just as kind and patient as Breezerunner, but instead of caring for every cat, he thought ShadowClan was the best Clan in the forest. Strictly dedicated to his Clan, Rabbitpaw admired him despite having a different opinion from him. Though he could see what Frogjump was saying- for the well being of their Clan, they had to remain loyal to it. They could have friends in other Clans, but if the time came, they would have to face them in battle, claws unsheathed.
Cedarpaw and Flurrypaw received their warrior names before Rabbitpaw, naturally, since medicine cats get their full names later than regular apprentices. Despite not particularly liking his brothers, especially Flurrypaw, Rabbitpaw cheered along with the rest of the Clan when their names were announced: Cedarfall and Flurryclaw. After becoming a warrior, Flurryclaw was even more arrogant and rude. Not only was he like this to Rabbitpaw, but to the rest of the Clan. Cedarfall started to see who Flurryclaw really was, and started migrating more and more to his other brother. But due to being busy with his medicine cat duties, Rabbitpaw didn't have very much time for Cedarfall. But whenever he could, he shared tongues and a meal with his brother.
A couple moons after his brothers had their warrior ceremony, Frogjump and Rabbitpaw went to the Moonpool with the other medicine cats. Frogjump surprised him by giving him his full name as Rabbittail. The newly named Rabbittail begged his mentor to name him Rabbitfoot, because he wanted to remember his mother with his heart and by his name. Frogjump, a little taken aback, did another ceremony for Rabbittail, this time giving him the name as Rabbitfoot. When Rabbitfoot shared tongues with StarClan that night, he saw his mother among the ranks of StarClan. He was introduced to many cats, from Rowanstar, to Littlecloud, to Appledawn, to other Clan cats like Graystar, Darkstar, Flareface, Voletooth, and Emberpaw. They all welcomed him as a full medicine cat of ShadowClan. Though just a few short moons after becoming the full medicine cat, Frogjump retired, leaving Rabbitfoot as the sole medicine cat.
Rabbitfoot became much busier than before when he had been an apprentice. Without an apprentice of his own, he did jobs from pulling a thorn out from a paw to healing a severely injured warrior. In a battle with ThunderClan, towards the end of Morningstar's leadership, Flurryclaw was killed by a ThunderClan warrior. The Clan grieved, but the tom had many enemies. Some said that Flurryclaw got was what coming to him. After Flurryclaw's death, Badgerstrike retired to the elders den, too old and tired to continue with warrior duties. Morningstar died a couple moons later, ending her reign, and Cherrystar took her place. After Cherrystar became the new leader, peace took over ShadowClan after many skirmishes with ThunderClan and ShadowClan under Morningstar's rule.
